Higher Secondary and equivalent results out with 68.91 percent success

Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examination results 2017 published today with on an avarage 68.91 percent pass out under 10 education boards across the country. 

Of them, 66.84 percent students came out successful in eight general education boards while 77.2 percent passed in Madrasa Education Board and 81.33 pc in Technical Education Board.

"A total of 37,969 candidates scored maximum grade point average GPA-5 this year examinations," Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told a press briefing in the conference room of the ministry here today.

He said a total of 11,63,370 examinees from 8,771 educational institutions appeared at the examinations. Of the total examinees, 6,24,775 are males and 5,38,595 females.

Female students in the examinations have outnumbered the male students in terms of pass rate this year.

The percentage of pass of female students is 70.43 while that of the male students is 67.61. In an average, 68.91 percent of examinees passed examinations under 10 education boards of the country. Nahid said students can get their marks of each subject from the last year along with grade point average.

He said examinations of 50 papers on 26 subjects were held under creative question papers in this year's HSC examination while 36 papers on 19 subjects were held under creative question papers last year.

Earlier, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid along with chairmen of all education boards formally handed over the copies of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a function at her Ganabhaban residence this morning.

Sylhet Board has secured the top position among eight educational boards with 72 percent pass rate in the HSC examinations this year. 

While students under Comilla Education Board performed poor in terms of pass rate compared to other education boards with 49.52 percent pass rate. Technical Education Board secured the top position in this year's HSC and equivalent examinations, among the ten education boards, with 81.33 percent pass rate.

The pass rate of Madrasah Education Board is 77.02 percent, while it is 72 percent in Sylhet Board, 71.30 percent in Rajshahi Board, 70.28 percent in Barisal, 70.02 percent in Jessore, 69.74 percent in Dhaka, 65.44 in Dinajpur, 61.09 percent in Chittagong and 49.52 percent in Comilla Board. 

As many as 244 students of seven overseas centres came out successful in the HSC examinations this year with 94.21 percent pass rate, the official results added. 

A total of 259 students appeared in the examinations from the overseas centres. Of the successful students, 46 got GPA-5.

Students of Science Group achieved top position with 28,935 GPA-5 in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations this year. 

A total of 2,581 students got GPA-5 from Business Studies Group and 1,726 from Humanities group. 

As many as 2,14,352 examinees from science group appeared in the HSC examinations this year, 4,87,229 from humanities group and 2,63,357 from Business Studies Group.

A total of 532 educational institutions have achieved 100 percent pass rate in the examinations while students of 72 colleges and madrasas under seven out of 10 Education Boards failed to come out successful this year

The HSC and equivalent examinations were held between April2 and May 25. The results of the examination have been published today on the 59th day after the end of the examination.
