Secondary School Certificate and equivalent exams begin

After 10 years of schooling, the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations under 10 education boards in Bangladesh began today.

Examinees attended the three hours test at 10 am through 3,412 centers across the country. Of them, 1964 centers for SSC examinees, 707 centers for Dakhil examinees and 741 centers for vocational examinees.

This year, a total of 20,31,899 students, including 10,23,212 boys and 10,08,687 girls, are appearing in the examinations from 28,551 educational institutions.

A total of 6,27,378 students are appearing in the SSC examination under eight general education boards while 2,89,752 in Dakhil examination under Madrasah Education Board and 1,14,769 in vocational examination under Bangladesh Technical Education Board.

In 2017, a total of 17,86,613 students, including 9,10,501 boys and 8,76,112 girls, took part in the examinations.

The number of total examinees has risen to 2,45,286 from previous year's. A total of 458 students will sit for the examinations from eight overseas centers as well.

The written examinations will continue until February 25 while the practical examination will be held from February 26 to March 4.
