List of Private Universities in Bangladesh

According to University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) a total of 95 Private Universities are approved in Bangladesh as of 8 January 2018. However, some universities are yet to start academic activities. Some university runs under the court order. Universities run under the court order are indicated by star marks in the remarks option.

* BBA, Environmental Science, MBBS, BDS, Physiotherapy programs are run by the university with Stay Order of the Honorable High Court Division for six months with effect from 29/05/2017.
** Unapproved campus is run by the university.
*** An unapproved campus is functioning under Court’s Stay Order. The address of IBAIS University is shown according to the Stay Order (writ petition no 12017/2016) of the Honorable High Court Division dated 19 September 2016.
**** The Ministry of the Education approved the university on 6/9/2015 to fulfillment of all conditions within one year. The deadline of compliance has in the meantime expired.
***** Conflict among BoT (Board of Trustees) members and filing of cases.
****** The student admission of Southern University Bangladesh (all campuses) has been stopped according to the instruction of MoE and UGC until disposal of the ongoing inquiry and all cases filed to the Honorable court.
