Aeronautical Engineering Admission at NMIT

The Department of Aeronautical Engineering is the youngest and most dynamic department at NMIT (Nitte Meenakshi Institue of Technology). The department was started in the academic year 2011-12 with the approval of AICTE. It has grown into a reputed department offering a 4-Year Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) program in Aeronautical Engineering. The goal of the department is to mold students into top class aeronautical engineers suitable for employment on a global scale.

Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT) is an Autonomous Institution affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), with the approval of UGC.

The faculty of the department comprises of highly qualified and experienced professors who were formerly working with reputed organizations such as NAL and the IAF (Indian Air Force). Aeronautical engineering trains students in designing, construction, development, testing, operation and maintenance of both commercial & military aircraft and space-crafts. Aeronautical Engineering Courses impart multi-faceted training to students in areas such as manufacturing and aeronautics.

The department of Aeronautical Engineering has laboratory and computing facilities. At present, the department has Laboratories for Structures, Propulsion, Modeling and Simulation. The department has a Low Speed Wind Tunnel. The faculty and students work in collaboration with other departments of NMIT. Other facilities include workshops and Laboratories for Energy Conversion, Foundry and Forge, Fluid Mechanics, Measurements and Metrology, Materials Testing. Flight Simulation, Flight Vehicle Design and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Laboratories will be setup at the department soon.
